The laser nozzle plays a crucial role in laser cutting by maintaining the distance between the laser head and the workpiece, directing auxiliary gas flow, creating high pressure at the outlet to speed up cutting, removing molten slag, and protecting the laser head's internal lenses. It directly influences the quality of laser cutting.

Different types of nozzles exist:

Single-layer nozzle: Uses nitrogen as auxiliary gas, suitable for melting cutting of stainless steel and aluminum alloy.

Double-layer nozzle: Uses oxygen as auxiliary gas, suitable for oxidative cutting of carbon steel.

The aperture size of the laser nozzle affects cutting quality:

Small aperture: Ideal for thin plate cutting, producing a finer surface but potentially leaving molten slag at corners.

Large aperture: Suitable for thick plate cutting, with a larger gas diffusion area and slower flow for stable cutting. However, larger apertures offer less protection to the focusing lens, increasing the risk of lens damage from molten sparks.

Coaxiality between the nozzle outlet and laser beam is crucial, especially for thicker workpieces. Proper adjustment of coaxiality ensures better cutting results.
